[0:00] „This kīrtan which we just sung is very well known around the world. It is standard within ISKCON and among the followers of Śrīla Prabhupāda to chant this before a class, because Śrīla Prabhupāda generally always chanted this before a class. Not always, but almost always. There are many Vaiṣṇava songs of Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, there are many short nāma-kīrtanas like this. For some reason Śrīla Prabhupāda liked to sing this particular song.

By singing this, we can remeber Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana, and we can remember Śrīla Prabhupāda also, because he liked to sing this. Śrīla Prabhupāda once explained this briefly. He said this song is a picture of Vṛndāvana, that Kṛṣṇa is there, Rādhā, the gopīs, the Yamunā, Yaśodā...everything is there. And Śrīla Prabhupāda was explaining this and he became stunned in ecstasy, thinking of Vṛndāvana.

So the well known song begins, Rādhā-Mādhava. Rādhā means She who worships the best, anayārādhito nūnaṁ bhagavān harir īśvaraḥ. Her name is not mentioned directly in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam but She is reffered to indirectly by these words. She who worships the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Bhagavān Hari Īśvara, She who is the best worshiper. She is the most dear to Kṛṣṇa because She worships Him the best. That doesn't mean that worship of any other devotee of Kṛṣṇa is lacking anything but the worship of Rādhā is the most intense. 
And Mādhava means the husband of Lakṣmī. Of course, all these names can have many meanings. Śrīla Madhvācārya once proposed to explain all the names of the Viṣṇu-sahasranāma each one in one hundred ways. So, another meaning of the name Mādhava is descendant of the Mādhu dynasty. So we sometimes find in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam reference to the two Mādhavas, meaning Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma. So Rādhā-Mādhava means Rādhā and Mādhava. Mādhava means Rādhā-Mādhava. Mādhava means Kṛṣṇa...“

[13:45]“Rādhā-Mādhava also means Rādhā's Mādhava. There is also Rukmini's Mādhava, but residents of Vṛndāvana know only Rādhā's Mādhava. Everyone in Vṛndāvana recognizes that Kṛṣṇa belongs to Rādhā and that is the mistery and the delight of Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana. He, who is the husband of Goddess of fortune, Lakṣmī, it means He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead bhagavān hari īśvara, and He is the property of Rādhā, that here in Vṛndāvana Kṛṣṇa is not sitting on the big throne. Sometimes, they may put Him on the big throne and they make fun of Him, what do You do sitting on the big throne?

I several times said, but I will say it again, that is recorded in... where it is? Garga saṁhitā or somewhere, some other book describing Vṛndāvana from pastimes. When Kṛṣṇa comes home in the pasturing grounds in the evening, that time is called godhuli, it means sandhyā when dust from cows is coming up, He comes home. So Kṛṣṇa is there coming home and Brahmā is there offering prayers, Śiva is there offering prayers to Kṛṣṇa . So Kṛṣṇa 's cowherd boys are there, they have been playing with Kṛṣṇa all day, sometimes wrestling with Kṛṣṇa , in the Yamunā splashing water back and forward. So, when they see Brahmā, Śiva, Indra and all the demigods offering prayers to Kṛṣṇa they think it is a big joke. They think it is a lot of fun! And they also come before Kṛṣṇa and pretend to be like Brahmā, they come in awe and reverence and then they roll on the ground laughing. So, Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana is a very, very different kind of person to a king sitting on a throne in Vaikuṇṭha... „
